Help us Unshackle the Chains of Poverty

The IIT MEDLIFE chapter is currently an expansion chapter.  In order to complete this phase and advance to becoming a nationally recognized chapter, we need to send at least 10 members on a medical brigade to one of the MEDLIFE sites in South America.  A medical brigade, also known as a mobile clinic, is a basic medical clinic that is brought to the poor.  It is staffed by general practitioners from surrounding areas that speak the language and know the culture.  These clinics are equipped with preventative tests as well as basic laboratory stations with the ability to provide instant results to help physicians make their diagnosis.   This trip, as you can imagine, is expensive and while fundraising will raise much revenue, we need extra support.  The participation fee is $680 which covers all meals, in-country transportation, and lodging.  We must also pay airfare out of pocket which depends on the date and location of travel.  In total, the trip will cost approximately $2,000 per person.  For 10 people we need to raise about $20,000.

What you will be supporting

• A great accomplishment for  IIT, the 3rd MEDLIFE chapter in the Chicagoland area
• The application of education to real world problems
• A unique opportunity for students of all majors, intended career paths, and cultural backgrounds to unite in order to produce a beneficial outcome for others
• Academic and personal growth of students as they experience, first hand, extreme poverty and learn what they can do to improve it
• The improvement of the lives of real people

All donations will go directly into the IIT MEDLIFE account, in order to support the IIT-MEDLIFE chapter's fundraising efforts.  Please note that all donations made through the following link will specifically support the IIT-MEDLIFE chapter, not the MEDLIFE organization itself.

Thank you!
