Hear from our Current Members!

I am really glad that MEDLIFE was started on IIT campus. As not only a pre-med student, but also someone who is really interested in healthcare, I have been looking for something like MEDLIFE to be a part of. I feel that MEDLIFE stands for something meaningful and is one of the few organizations on campus that actually is set out to help others. I believe MEDLIFE gives IIT a good image. It shows that IIT students still have time in our busy schedules to help others.

I believe that being a part of MEDLIFE will give me the experience and knowledge needed to succeed as a future nurse. MEDLIFE, in addition to my psychology and biology background, will help me achieve my long term goal of graduating with a greater understanding of and appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. Ultimately, I see this organization as an opportunity to better myself in hopes of becoming an exceptional global citizen.

--- Chelsea Bandiola, 1st year Psychology student

I joined MEDLIFE because ever since I was 8 years old I have had the dream of one day becoming a doctor and having the ability to save someone's life. As I grew older, I became aware that there are others outside of the U.S living in poverty-stricken areas, who do not have the luxury of going to the doctor when their health is at risk. I then realized that these people are the ones that really need the help and I decided that when I become a doctor, I will travel to these countries and offer my services to those who are really in need. When I heard about MEDLIFE I was ecstatic.  I now have the ability to start this long-dreamed journey as an undergraduate student in college, rather than having to wait until I become a doctor. Making a difference and having a positive impact in others' lives by letting them know that there is hope is how I aim to help. The knowledge that I make a difference is what I will get out of being a member of this organization.

I am a second year chemistry major and I'm also premed. I joined MEDLIFE because I was attracted to its mission of going to less fortunate countries and helping its people with volunteering and medical supplies. This brigade would not only benefit the people in the country, but us students as well.  It would educate us, make us more appreciative, and give us some basic knowledge on medicine. This would be a great opportunity; however, if we don't have enough funds it will not be possible. We would definitely appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.

I just joined MEDLIFE this semester after hearing about it from a fellow classmate. Being a Biomedical Engineering student on a premed track, this is something I'm very interested in. I have not yet gotten the chance to attend any of its events, but I look forward to fundraising for our chance to go to South America!

--- Qing Wang, 3rd year Biomedical Engineering student

MEDLIFE is currently seeking sponsorship to attend the medical brigade to South America. This will be a strategic experience for me as I intend to further my career in the medical field. As an undergraduate biochemistry major, I will be exposed to some of the medical issues facing not only these third world countries, but the world at large. And most importantly, I will be representing IIT, a world contributor for which our prestigious institution stands.
